Latest RX 9070 series price leak isn’t as ‘aggressive’ as we had hoped

Table of Contents
With Nvidia’s RTX 50 series facing a lot of criticism, many gamers are now looking forward to AMD’s RDNA 4-based RX 9070 series GPUs, which include the RX 9070 XT and its non-XT variant. While we’ve had plenty of clues and confirmations regarding specifications and the launch window, pricing remains a mystery. Recently, AMD stated that it is “listening” to RX 9070 series price demands from fans, and rumors have hinted at a potentially aggressive pricing strategy from Team Red.
Following that news, a Canadian retailer listed upcoming PowerColor and XFX RX 9070 graphics cards along with their alleged pricing. And all we can say is – it's aggressive, but not in the way we hoped. Before we get into the details, it's important to note that the listings have since been removed. They also lacked official images and didn't indicate that these prices were final. Discussing pricing this early is often misleading, so as always, take these leaked prices with a grain of salt.
Canada Computers reveals RX 9070 series pricing early
The pricing leak comes from Canada Computers, and as we mentioned, listings for all the cards have since been removed, but not before they were snapped by Tomasz Gawroński, posting them on X (formerly Twitter). This suggests that they were either posted prematurely or not meant to be public. In total, 16 graphics cards appeared on the site; seven from PowerColor and nine from XFX. Our focus is on the most affordable models, specifically the PowerColor Reaper series, which are expected to be MSRP cards.

According to the listings, the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070 XT was priced at $999 CAD, which converts to approximately $697 USD, while the PowerColor Reaper RX 9070 (non-XT) was listed at $839 CAD, roughly $586 USD. Canada Computers does not include VAT (GST) in its prices, so these amounts do not account for tax. This means, as per this leak, the RX 9070 XT would likely retail at $699 USD, while the RX 9070 non-XT would be priced around $579 or $599.
As for the XFX GPUs, the affordable options included the XFX QuickSilver RX 9070 OC, which was listed at $949 CAD, around $662 USD, and the XFX QuickSilver RX 9070 XT Magnetic Air, priced at $1,129 CAD, approximately $748 USD. That said, one interesting detail from the XFX listings was the mention of some models that weren't showcased at CES, such as the Magnetic Air series and white variants of the Swift and QuickSilver cards.
RX 9070 series GPUs arrive in early March
At the end of the day, this is just a leak, and there's no way to confirm whether these are the final prices. Rumors suggest that AMD’s RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT won't just target Nvidia's upcoming RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti but will also be aggressively priced against GPUs like the 7800 XT, which has an MSRP of $499 USD. So for now, nothing can be taken as the final word. The only thing that's clear is that AMD should be paying attention to what fans want, and fans definitely aren't asking for a $700 GPU.
