MacBook Pro M6 release date, specs, and price revealed, with pre orders arriving tomorrow

We haven’t quite arrived at Apple’s ‘Pro and Tell’ event, but one of the biggest rumored reveals has already arrived. Keeping in line with the name of the event, Apple has announced a brand-new version of the MacBook Pro. The 14-inch model has a major chip upgrade, launching as the first M6-powered MacBook. We first saw this chip arrive in the M6 Mac mini in August.
Pro and Tell will be taking place from 10 AM Pacific time this Wednesday, October 28. However, Apple has been formally introducing new products already (we saw a similar strategy ahead of the MacBook Neo’s launch event in March). Yesterday, the U.S. tech giant launched its OLED iPad mini, jumping from LCD to OLED, but retaining a pretty underwhelming 60Hz spec.
In any case, the 14-inch MacBook with M6 has arrived. Keep in mind that the M6 upgrade is coming exclusively to the smaller 14-inch model, while the 16-inch Pro will remain limited to M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. This has become standard procedure for Apple; based on previous generations, the 16-inch variant will get M6 Pro and M6 Max next spring, but nothing is confirmed just yet.

MacBook Pro 14-inch M6 release date, specs, and price
Much like the new OLED iPad mini, Apple will be launching pre-orders for the M6 MacBook Pro tomorrow (October 28), at 10:10 AM Pacific Time, just 10 minutes into the Pro and Tell event keynote. Wider availability also mimics the mini, with the M6 MacBook Pro available from November 6. This is when Apple fans should expect shipping and in-store availability to start at the earliest.
As for the pricing, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 is available from $1,999. The 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU chip is actually cheaper than the M5 Pro and M5 Max models. In the United Kingdom, it’s available from £1,999. These are just starting prices, so they’ll vary depending on your chosen configuration. Jumping from 16GB to 32GB RAM adds another $400, for example.

Apple’s new iPhone Duo has already suffered stock issues, alongside screen cracking issues, so we’ll have to wait and see how stock holds up for the new MacBook. However, we don’t currently imagine the demand to be as high as Apple’s first foldable phone, as the M6 MacBook Pro represents a typical generational upgrade rather than a unique, groundbreaking update.
