MSI pushes RTX 50 series GPU prices even higher as demand keeps climbing
Table of Contents
It hasn’t even been a full day, and we’re already seeing reports on Reddit that board partners have once again raised the prices of RTX 50 series GPUs, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. For those who aren't caught up, just yesterday, we covered ASUS and MSI increasing the prices of RTX 50 series GPUs, with some models reaching as high as $3,409 – a staggering 70% increase over the original MSRP.
Now, it seems MSI wasn't satisfied with its prices either and has raised them by up to $40 on the majority of its RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs, similar to the move ASUS made recently. While a few SKUs have retained their previous prices and one model has even dropped in price, most have seen increases, prompting users to question why people are still making purchases despite such high prices.
RTX 5080 GPUs take the biggest hit from MSI price hikes
Compared to MSI’s previously listed prices, the two GPUs that have seen the biggest price hikes are the GeForce RTX 5080 16G INSPIRE 3X OC and the GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC WHITE, both going from $1,339 to $1,379; a $40 increase.

Interestingly, one RTX 5080 GPU has dropped in price, the GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC, which has decreased by $30 from its original listed price of $1,299 to $1,269. However, this appears to be more of a price correction than a true discount, as the PLUS variant of the same card was already priced at $1,269 and remains unchanged.

Gamers are calling out those buying overpriced GPUs
With RTX 50 series GPU prices soaring even higher, gamers are growing frustrated with not just scalpers and board partners exploiting the situation, but also with those buying these overpriced GPUs. As consumers, we can’t control what the company charges, but many gamers believe that if people stop purchasing at these inflated prices, manufacturers will eventually be forced to lower them.
That said, the situation surrounding the RTX 50 series continues to worsen, and many gamers are now looking toward the Red Team and its RX 9070 series GPUs. If AMD plays its cards right, this could be a golden opportunity for them to bring Green Team users to their side. Lucky for us, it recently revealed it is “listening” to the big price debate going on right now.
