In addition to all the new features, such as GameChat and the Joy-Con mouse, users of the Nintendo Switch 2 can also look forward to faster load times, according to the developers behind the hybrid life sim/RPG Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time.

Developer Level 5 released the original Fantasy Life globally back in 2014. It was a modest success, gaining a cult following that appreciated its bright, cartoonish art style, Animal Crossing-style life sim coziness, and RPG dungeon-crawling elements. Surprisingly, the game is now getting a sequel, which has become an unlikely candidate for showing off the updated specs of the Switch 2.

The developers released a video that showed the load times for going from the main menu to having full control and being able to fully play the game. On the original Switch hardware, this took 12 seconds. On the Switch 2, this time is cut in half to a mere six seconds.

Improved framerates and visuals

This is not the only improvement delivered by the Switch 2’s updated hardware. Those who own the Switch 2 and choose to opt for the $2.59 upgrade will also be able to enjoy:

  • Improved animation fluidity
  • Faster scene transitions
  • Higher frame rates
  • Improved visual fidelity

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is already available for purchase for the original Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 version will form part of the launch lineup for the Switch 2, with the upgrade pack available on June 5 for the Switch 2 launch day.

There is, unfortunately, no specific Digital Deluxe Edition specifically for the Switch 2. Customers who wish to play the Digital Deluxe Edition will need to buy the original Switch version and then purchase the Switch 2 upgrade pack.
