It wasn’t long ago that Nvidia confirmed they are working on AI PCs, but what’s next? Well, we may only need to wait until Computex next week to found out more. One of the biggest events on the tech industry calendar is back in Taipei this year, taking place between June 4th and 7th.
A collaboration between Nvidia and MediaTek is the big news as of late, working together to bring an AI-focused chip. This will bring forth a generation of AI PCs, looking to build upon what Microsoft has already done with their Copilot+ PCs recently. There’s plenty of space in the market to grow, so it’s not surprising to see Nvidia target it.
AI PC reveal could come at Computex this year
Like we mentioned above, Computex isn’t far away at all. In a report from Taiwanese outlet Commercial Times, we can see that an announcement regarding Nvidia and MediaTek’s joint project is on the cards; this comes from a shareholder’s meeting at MediaTek.
A recent suggestion from well-known leaker Kepler tells us that the new system-on-a-chip will be using an Intel 3nm process node, contrasting with the expected TSMC solution. Furthermore, it will be an ARM-based chip – an important detail when the current market is dominated by x86 processors.
Expected specs
- CPU: ARM Cortex-X5 (Blackhawk)
- GPU: Nvidia Blackwell
- Memory: LPDDR6
- Process node: Intel 3nm
- Release date: 2025
When is it expected to release?
Despite the expected announcement, this doesn’t mean the brand-new AI PC will be ready to go once the show’s over. Instead, it is predicted that the next-gen AI PC chip could launch sometime in 2025, at least according to VideoCardz. At least the early reveal could show off exactly what Nvidia plans are moving forward.
Plus, recent leaks tell us that they could even be working on a Steam Deck rival with an Nvidia GPU, so gaming may be a big focus – as per usual.
