Fresh claims online suggest that Nvidia is ready to adjust the capacity of its RTX 50 series graphics cards. The RTX 50 series first became available early this year, and after some turmoil following launch, with poor stock levels and inflated prices, GPUs have finally been pretty well-priced lately. However, with ongoing memory shortages, GPU stock could soon become hard to come by. Rumor has it that the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070 Ti will be the first to have their supply adjusted.

PC building enthusiasts have been hit by a few blows in the past couple of months. At this point, most will know about the extortionate RAM prices, which might continue to disrupt gaming for “several years,” at least according to Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney. Like memory, SSDs have also been affected by the high demand from the AI industry as data center production speeds up. We’ve heard of price rises for both AMD and Nvidia GPUs due to the scarcity of memory these days.

Rumors claim RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti are first to be cut back

The rumor, first sighted in the Chinese-language Board Channels forums, a frequent source of leaks regarding GPU production, claims that Nvidia is taking into account the “long-cycle impact of storage products” [translated], and adjusting the GPU supply strategy in mainland China. It’s not yet obvious how this will affect the international market. According to the rumor, “RTX 50 series GPU output during the first half of 2026” is expected to be “30 to 40% lower” compared with the first half of 2025.

Taiwanese publication Benchlife picked up on the news, backing up the reports and claiming that the lower output will hit the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB cards. The 5060 Ti has a cheaper 8GB variant, for reference, while the 5070 Ti is only available in a 16GB model – all RTX 50 series GPUs use GDDR7 memory.

Several AIC partners and component suppliers have also mentioned to us that NVIDIA will be the first to adjust the supply of GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7.

We’ve already seen projections that memory shortages will stifle the development of notebooks and smartphones by downgrading RAM and raising prices – in other words, more 8GB laptops and more 4GB smartphones on the market.
