Oblivion Remastered seems just as moddable as the original, despite no official support

Despite Bethesda’s history of supporting mods in their games, the recently released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was confirmed to lack mod support. However, this bad news applies only to console players, as PC players have already found a way to bring mods to the game, with over 200 mods uploaded just days after launch and more continuing to roll in.
While part of the credit goes to the skills and creativity of these modders, it also turns out that Oblivion Remastered is basically just the original Oblivion under the hood. Modders have started using the 2006 version's Construction Set and are successfully opening the remaster's files with the original official modding tools.
You can still use the old Oblivion modding tools
This revelation comes from the r/ElderScrolls subreddit, where user Zealousideal_Pen9063 discovered that the Oblivion Remake is just as moddable as the original. This is because Oblivion Remastered still uses the original Gamebryo engine (which evolved into Creation Engine) to handle all of the actual “game work,” while Unreal Engine 5 acts as a wrapper to deliver the “tremendous visual” enhancements that improve the game’s look and feel.
Because it’s the same game as before, just with UE5 being run on top of it to provide the better looking assets and some smoothing out/minor improvements.
Just like Halo Anniv. or the Demons Souls Remaster.

As a result, the game still contains all the original assets, files, and systems from the OG version, which have been visually remade in UE5 but are likely linked to the old assets using the same names or unique IDs. At least, this is the theory so far. This allows mods to recognize them and makes it possible for modders to use the original Oblivion modding tools.
Now, obviously, there are some complications, especially the fact that the game appears to be replacing models directly within Unreal, which makes adding entirely new content more difficult. However, creating mods using pre-existing assets is still possible, and we’ve already seen this in action.
