PC gamers pick AMD over Nvidia in latest battle of mid-range GPUs, recent poll reveals
Table of Contents
Back-to-back GPU launches mean there’s plenty of hardware-related content to sink your teeth into this March, so we thought we’d gather your opinion on the RX 9070 versus RTX 5070 launch. Nvidia launched the 5070 yesterday (March 5th), while AMD’s new RX 9070 & RX 9070 XT are coming today (March 6th).
Ahead of the launch, we put out a poll to see which card you think offers better value for money. The 5070 went swiftly out of stock due to a lack of availability, so we’re talking about the $549 MSRP price tags here; keep in mind that we expect to see many SKU prices inflated due to the lack of supply. AMD came out swinging by saying the 9070 is the “world’s best $549 graphics card” and it seems like our audience agrees.

Less than 10% of voters think the RTX 5070 is better value for money
First of all, when we say less than 10%, we’re talking about at the time of writing. We’ll leave the poll open if you want to have your say. In any case, the RX 9070 has run away with the victory, currently enjoying 79% of votes to the RTX 5070’s 7%. Choosing to go neutral are 14% of voters, claiming they think neither card is great value for money.
When it comes to buying a GPU within the mid-range, value is king. Once you drop below the high-end cards, users are looking for excellent value for money – and that’s what the RX 9070 delivers, with more VRAM being a stand-out spec versus the 5070.
If we’re being perfectly honest, AMD’s new XT card offers better value for money than the non-XT variant – as shown in recent prime to performance charts. All in all, AMD has certainly done an excellent job with these mid (or mid-to-high) range graphics cards, and it seems like the perfect response to Nvidia’s lackluster RTX 50 series launches so far.
It’s important to note that finding these cards at their $549 MSRP will prove to be difficult going forward, though it’s safe to say that RX 9070 has enjoyed much more stock than its rival.
