In case you missed it, Rockstar finally brought the original Red Dead Redemption to PC, after 14 years of console exclusivity. Considering we’re in the age of remasters and remakes, you may be surprised to hear that the game wasn’t really remastered in any significant way. Yes, the PC port brought along features we’ve come to expect on PC such as ultrawide support and Nvidia’s DLSS kit, but that isn’t exactly a remaster.
The game itself hasn’t seen a large graphics overhaul. That’s where ‘Reality Redemption’ comes in – an ongoing overhaul project that will help “improve the visual fidelity of this game with better textures, models” and much more. This mod has actually been in development for the console versions for a while, but now PC users can make the most of it too.
Reality Redemption mod for RDR1 overhauls graphics
Available on Nexus Mods, ‘Reality Redemption – Overhaul Project‘ was uploaded in early November, soon after the game’s PC launch took place. There was some backlash to the game when was first revealed it comes with a full $50 price tag, especially since it’s essentially a port for a 14-year-old game. We have to say that the game can look great on PC thanks to support for native 4K, up to 144 FPS, and HDR 10 support, so a free mod that takes that to the next level is more than welcome.
