The RTX 4090 is currently one of the top gaming GPUs on the market and will likely remain so until Nvidia launches its next RTX 50-series GPU lineup. While there have been reports that Nvidia plans to discontinue the RTX 4090 in October, it appears that this process has already begun in Germany, as the card has seemingly started disappearing from the market. This has happened a few weeks after the price of the RTX 4090 started going up in Germany due to end-of-life rumors.
RTX 4090 reportedly running out of stock at German retailers
While Nvidia hasn’t officially announced the discontinuation of the RTX 4090, those in Germany are finding it difficult to acquire the card. As mentioned earlier, the price of the 4090 has risen significantly in the country following rumors about its discontinuation. However, while this was expected to happen sometime in October, a user on the 3DCenter forum has claimed that the RTX 4090 is no longer available through some major distributors like TD Synnex. On top of that, the user further added that the production of the card has already stopped, and there’s a chance that the remaining production is ‘not planned for Germany.’
As spotted by Wccftech, the RTX 4090 has started running out of stock at popular tech retailers in Germany, such as Alternate, Caseking, and Mindfactory. In fact, Mindfactory has removed the product page from its site, indicating that it will not restock. Even if you visit Amazon Germany, you’ll notice that only two RTX 4090 editions are available for purchase, and both have only one unit in stock. They are also listed for around €2,100, which is way higher than what the price was before the discontinuation rumors popped up. Considering how things are at the moment, it won’t be long before the card has completely disappeared from all popular retailers in Germany.
It’s important to note that the RTX 4090 has only started disappearing from the German market and is still available in most parts of the world. For instance, if you’re in the US, you can easily get different editions from Amazon and Newegg. However, if you plan to purchase one, we recommend you act quickly, as the stock may begin to run low in other countries as well. In fact, in the coming weeks, it could become very difficult to get a new RTX 4090.
Why is this happening?
The disappearance of the RTX 4090 from the German market and the rising prices clearly indicate that Nvidia is wrapping up or has completely stopped production of the card. This often happens when a company is transitioning to newer models (RTX 50-series in Nvidia’s case), making older products harder to find. It’s also important to remember that resellers and scalpers will most likely take advantage of this situation by charging more for the RTX 4090 once it’s no longer available through popular retailers.
In any case, all eyes are now set on the launch of the RTX 50-series lineup, which will also introduce the RTX 5090 – the replacement of the 4090. According to some leaked specifications, the RTX 5090 will offer 32GB GDDR7 VRAM and 21,760 CUDA cores. On top of that, it will have a 512-bit memory bus, a 28 GB/s memory clock, and a 1,792 GB/s memory bandwidth. If the leak turns out to be true, then this will be a major upgrade over its predecessor. Fans are also currently speculating that the 5090 might feature liquid cooling due to its massive 600W TDP.
