Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090, currently the top GPU for gaming, is almost two years old. Nvidia is going full-speed ahead with the planning and production of its next generation of graphics cards, the RTX 50-series. Amidst this, there have been reports of Nvidia looking to discontinue the 4090, possibly in preparation for the RTX 5090 and the RTX 5000 series overall.
In any case, as we reported earlier, due to this move, it was possible that we’d see some price fluctuations. Now, we’re seeing the price of the RTX 4090 soar in Germany as the GPU stock is drying up.
RTX 4090 price rises at German retailers
According to 3DCenter, a German outlet, the price of the RTX 4090 GPU has been soaring quite a bit. At launch, the RTX 4090 Founder’s edition was priced at 1,949 EUR, which dropped to 1,859 EUR quite quickly. Eventually, the price slid down to 1,769 EUR, which remained more or less the same. Further, RTX 4090 from other manufacturers also had similar prices and often cost about 100 EUR less.
As per 3DCenter’s post on X, an RTX 4090 will cost you 1,850 to 2000 EUR, with some retailers selling the card for as high as 2,660 EUR. In fact, as seen in the screenshot, some retailers in Germany have been offering only one unit. 3DCenter is describing the situation as “high prices and average availability,” which we think sums it up quite well.
In case you missed it, it is speculated that Nvidia is gearing up to unveil the Blackwell CPUs later this year. From what we know so far, the Nvidia Blackwell production is on track for Q4 despite some delays. However, Nvidia has not officially shared any release date or even an estimate, so take any online speculation with a grain of salt.
