RTX 5090 Founders Edition is now over double price on eBay as stock remains impossible to find
Table of Contents
The RTX 5090 was launched a few days ago, on January 30, and people rushed to their favorite retailers to grab one. However, within just a few minutes, the GPU was marked as ‘sold out’ across popular retailers, such as Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy. At the moment, there is currently no word on when retailers will restock, but scalpers are taking advantage of the situation, as they have listed the RTX 5090 Founders Edition on eBay for over double the price.
We don’t expect many people to want to pay over $4K for a graphics card. In the meantime, we suggest keeping a close eye on our RTX 5090 & RTX 5080 stock tracker; there are at least a bunch of prebuilt systems in stock at the moment.

RTX 5090 FE listed on eBay for over $4,000
During CES 2025, the event where Nvidia announced the RTX 50 series lineup, the company confirmed that the RTX 5090 will launch with an MSRP of $1,999. This was for the Founders Edition only, as third-party models entered the market with a much higher price tag due to more features like better cooling and custom designs. When the card was sold out across retailers, everyone knew that scalpers would now list them at higher prices. At the time of writing, on eBay, the RTX 5090 FE is listed for GBP 3,514, which converts to approximately $4,387.40.
However, this is a little bit ‘cheap’ compared to another listing, which is offering the RTX 5090 Founders Edition for $4,722.08 – $385 more than the first one. This means that to get your hands on the card. you’ll need to pay over double the MSRP. In the next few days, we can expect several other similar listings to appear. And since the Founders Edition is listed for this much, we could expect third-party models to be well over $5,000.
At the moment, we don’t know when the stock issues will get sorted. The RTX 5090 and 5080 release is also currently being branded as a “paper launch,” as Micro Center only had about 200 flagship GPUs. We’re also seeing people opting for 7900 XTX instead, as AMD’s high-end option is quickly going out of stock across popular retailers. Until the low-stock issues are sorted, we’ll continue to see eBay listings with absurd prices.
