Ryzen 7 9800X3D could arrive as soon as next month with improved clock speed

It’s been a couple of months since AMD launched its latest Ryzen 9000 series processors. We’ve already put them through our CPU testing process and they’re not too bad after a bit of a rocky start, performance-wise. Regardless, what we’ve really been waiting for is the new X3D variants, especially as the top contenders for the next best CPU for gaming.
And now it looks like that time is coming sooner than first anticipated. New information points towards the launch of the 9800X3D as soon as this month, with a full release date in early November. While it’s just a rumor for now, it’s the best indication we have of when the first 9000X3D CPU will hit the market.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D could launch this month
According to a post from 9550pro on X, which references a forum thread on Chiphell, the upcoming 9800X3D processor could be launching as soon as October 25th. However, it’s more likely that it will be available to buy on November 7th. The forum post also suggests that sales are “expected to be between November 1st and 5th” – so we can call it early November until we learn more.
These two events are said to follow reviews of the new Arrow Lake processors, which Intel officially launched yesterday. We already know that even 9800X3D will be faster for gaming than Intel’s new range, as Team Blue seems to be targeting productivity above all, with incredibly high efficiency.

9800X3D clock speeds also leaked
Along with news of the launch date, we also have a sneak peek of what the 9800X3D is capable of via a video on bilibili. It shows that the new Ryzen 7 chip has a base clock speed of 4.7 GHz, with 8 cores and 16 threads as expected. On top of that, it can (just about) be made out that the all-core turbo clock speed is 5.2 GHz.
Comparing this to the 7800X3D and 5800X3D, which carry base clock speeds of 4.2 GHz and 3.4 GHz respectively, it’s a decent uplift, though we don’t currently have an exact value on the max boost of the 9800X3D. The all-core turbo clock measures the maximum clock of all cores simultaneously, and the max clock of a single core could be higher than this. For reference, the 7800X3D and 5800X3D have max boost clocks of 5.0 GHz and 4.5 GHz respectively.
