It has been a few months since MSI launched its first Ryzen-powered handheld, the MSI Claw A8. It first arrived in China, then Europe, but there has been little word of a U.S. release – until now. MSI hasn’t announced anything, but the device has been listed online for $1,149.00. As far as we can tell, only the ‘Polar Tempest’ white colorway is available, not the ‘Neon Green’ variant.

It’s still not clear exactly when U.S. consumers will be able to get their hands on it, as the handheld remains out of stock at the time of writing. The Claw A8 arrived as the first Ryzen Z2 handheld, but in the time between its initial launch and now, several other Z2-powered devices have entered the U.S. market. These include the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, as well as Lenovo’s Legion Go 2.

MSI Claw A8 is “coming soon” to the US

Newegg isn’t the only place you’ll find the Ryzen handheld. We’ve also spotted it on B&H Photo Video, also priced at $1,1149.00, where it is available for pre-order. No exact release date has been revealed, only “coming soon”. If we remain hopeful, it may be shipped out by the end of the year. There’s currently no sign of the Claw A8 on Amazon in the U.S, and the only item available is a protective case for $19.99.

We saw the Claw A8 release in the UK back in September, where you could pre-order the handheld for £849. That translates to around $1,135, so the current U.S. price tag at Newegg isn’t far off. However, given the fact that the Intel Lunar Lake-powered MSI Claw 8 AI+ that came before it retails for a little less and has proven to be close in performance, it’s a tough call.
