The Core i9-14900K is a high-end processor from Intel, and it’s easily one of the best CPUs for both gaming and productivity. It comes with 24 cores in total, which are further divided into 8 Performance cores (responsible for demanding tasks) and 16 Efficient cores (responsible for lighter tasks). Aside from that, it has 32 threads and operates at a base frequency of 2.4 Ghz, which can be boosted up to 6 GHz for better performance. However, as it’s a high-end CPU, it can get hot during extended gaming and work sessions, which is why we recommend pairing it with one of the best CPU coolers for the 14900K.

The ASUS Z790 Max Gaming is designed for high-performance builds. It offers a 14+1+1 power system, so you can expect stable power delivery to all your components. On top of that, it can host up to four DDR5 RAM sticks, with a max memory capacity of 192GB. For storage, it offers three M.2 slots for SSDs, and four SATA 6Gb/s ports for standard HDDs or older SSDs.

Connectivity options are also solid. There are eight ports on the ear and nine on the front, including a 1Gb Ethernet port that should help you establish a stable wired internet connection. Aside from that, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and comes with several useful features like Overvoltage Protection, LANGuard, SafeSlot Core+, and more.

RAM: Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5

For the RAM, you’ll get the Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5 kit, which includes two 16GB sticks. They can reach a max speed of up to 6,400 Mhz, so you won’t have to worry about any slowdowns, even during multitasking.

How much will you save?

If you buy the three mentioned components separately, you’ll have to spend just under $1,010. However, with Micro Center’s offer, you can save $310 and take it home for only $699.99. For reference, the RAM kit alone costs $458 these days, so by spending around $240 more, you score two additional high-end components. The money you save can be invested in other components, like one of the best power supplies for gaming. Or you can use it to get a 4K monitor to pair with the rig.
