Star Wars Outlaws was one of the most anticipated games in 2024, and it didn’t disappoint with its great mechanics and graphics. Not all of its reviews were positive though, and sales have certainly been hit as a result. Plus, the game’s performance isn’t the most forgiving, so you’ll want to fine-tune the graphics settings before you get started.

Regardless, many were waiting for the title to come to Steam Deck, but at first, it wasn’t playable as it would only go to the menu screen and eventually freeze if you tried to go beyond that. It doesn’t help that the game isn’t on Steam, but someone eventually got it up and running on the Deck. However, you’d probably want to give it a pass while the performance is poor.

Can you play Star Wars Outlaws on the Steam Deck now?

According to a post from u/DeckWiz on the r/steamdeckhq subreddit, you can now load up and “play” the game on Steam Deck, but the experience is less than ideal. In the post, there was a video that showcased the performance of this title on the Steam Deck, and it seemed like it was less than 30 FPS, with major stuttering and lag issues. At one point, there was artifacting, and the game crashed with the Steam Deck screen turning black.

Star Wars Outlaws is now in-game on the Steam Deck. The performance is horrendous, our controller support is non-existent and the game will crash completely every few minutes where the Steam Deck will black screen, we must hold the power button down for 6-8 seconds to shut the system down.

So, this paints a pretty clear picture for those looking forward to exploring the galaxy on their Steam Decks. However, it isn’t all bad news, as there are plenty of titles you can play, such as Fortnite. That said, if you’re looking for a library of options, Steam has a list of all the titles available for the Steam Deck

For other PC users, if you’re experiencing Star Wars Outlaws crashing on PC or were looking to tune your graphical settings for this title, we’ve got you back.
