If you’re looking for a gaming laptop capable of running Star Wars Outlaws, we have the top selection for you along with a range of alternative choices. Giving you a strong performance wherever you may want to live out your scoundrel life. With the gameplay spanning a range of possibilities, you want to ensure you have the best experience with the right hardware for the job.
Seeing as the Star Wars Outlaws system requirements cover a wide range of hardware depending on the performance and quality that you’re targeting, there are a range of models you want to look at. But for our top choice, we’ve gone for something that will likely get you the capability to run at the best settings with great immersion. That’s why we go for the MSI Raider GE78 we reviewed and had a look at whose combined features will provide a great choice overall.
The MSI Raider GE78
- CPU: Intel Core i9-14900HX
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop
- RAM: 32GB (2*16) DDR5
- Storage: 4TB NVMe
- Max Refresh Rate: 240Hz
- Resolution: 2560 x 1600
- Screen Size: 17″
- Panel Type: QHD+
The MSI Raider GE78 is a pure gaming laptop hiding nothing of its design. It has a sharper and more flashy design than the likes of the Stealth models we also had a look at, shining its bright RGB colors and shiny edge highlights at the back. Along with the massive cooling vents at the back, thickening the whole laptop, it’s hard to hide what tits are designed for. At least you can control the behavior of the fans and performance, cranking it down to silent if you need it to.
In the 380 x 298 x 28.75 mm package, you’ll get a top-range Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, combined with an RTX 4080 laptop GPU. With some of the top range of mobile hardware available, it will be a considerable choice for getting the best performance in anything you want to accomplish especially with the laptop cooling on board keeping the performance without causing any throttling.
Along with the core components, the Raider doesn’t skimp out on the rest of the hardware either. As onboard you’ll also get 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 4TB NVMe SSD, giving you fast loading times and computing power to compliment the CPU especially.
Although the Raider has a 17-inch screen, with plenty of space for great immersion and enjoyment, it’s a bit of a weaker option. Comes with just a standard QHD panel, rather than something like a mini LED, it doesn’t have a shiny fancy screen for better looks. But the 1600p resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, do make up for that creating a smooth and enjoyable experience anyway.
System requirements
Now looking at the requirements, be mindful that these are based on desktop hardware. So comparing the laptop hardware you need to up the tier one or two just to be sure to account for that change. We just have to look at the TDP difference between the 4080 laptop on the MSI machine has a maximum of 175W power draw. Compared to the desktop version which has a TDP of 320W, nearly that of mobile, you can’t expect the same performance.
But as we show below, the Raider is certainly still capable, with a 1440p option it fits in the high preset targeting that resolution and FPS. This might just fall the requirement with the laptop limitations, but the inclusion of DLSS 3 lets you get a better performance in general. So let’s see what is needed.

Alternative choices
If the MSI Raider isn’t quite your cup of tea, then there are plenty of other options you can consider as alternatives. First off we have the MSI Titan 18 HX, an even more big of a beast of a machine. Upgrading both the GPU and RAM, it certainly has the horsepower behind it. Along with a higher resolution and quality monitor, it might be a bit more of a creator-focused machine, but it does bring with it a lot more potential, for a bit more of a hefty price.
Whilst if you’re thinking of something a bit more on the down low, the MSI Stealth 18 might be the option for you instead. Although it might have the same hardware as the Raider, its lack of cooling does limit its capabilities and performance so it’s not on the same level unfortunately.
Then there is the Razer Blade 16 a strong general choice, although it turns down the specs slightly it still is a plenty capable machine. Plus being a Razer laptop might be a more compelling option for some people. On the other hand, if you’re after a budget laptop, the Acer Nitro 17 might be for you instead. Targeting more minimum/recommended settings it’ll get the job done for a much cheaper price.

Final word
There you have a good selection of gaming laptops capable of playing Star Wars Outlaws on a variety of quality levels. Starting off the MSI Raider is a great all-around option, but the Titan is something a bit more grand as an alternative. With the Stealth as something a bit more toned down. Then the Razer Blade and Acer Nitro bring things down a notch again so you should have the right choice for exploring the galaxy.
