Anyone looking to replace the battery in their aging Steam Deck can now do so again. Reports of Valve “starting to sunset” replacement batteries for the LCD model surfaced a few weeks ago, but it didn’t take long for this idea to be dismissed; there was simply a lull in availability. Valve is not discontinuing them, and they’re now back in stock at official repair partner iFixit.

The popular replacement part and repair tool seller has Steam Deck LCD batteries back in stock, and while the price was briefly inflated, it has quickly returned to normal. Both the LCD and OLED variants are available from $79.99. If you’re wondering why these are unique components, it’s because the Steam Deck OLED features a larger 50Whr battery (versus the LCD’s 40Whr).

We hope to see the replacement batteries stick around now that they’re back in stock, especially since those with the LCD model may be hoping it extends its lifespan for as long as possible. The handheld itself has been discontinued for a while now, and you’ll only find OLED models on the official Steam store. You can find both variants of the battery on the iFixit store below:

Following the hefty Steam Deck price hikes in May, Steam Deck sales have tanked, so it makes a lot of sense to give what you already own a second wind by replacing its battery. Due to the industry-wide memory and storage shortages, rival handheld brands have also been hiking their prices. Even retro handheld makers like Retroid have been forced to up prices lately.
