Gamescom 2024 has been churning out amazing releases from giants like HP, showcasing its customizable Omen gaming PC and more. So, it isn’t surprising that news from big names like AMD is also coming forth and making some waves.
That said, ComputerBase reports that many motherboard manufacturers say the B850 and B850 motherboards will be released in 2025. However, we did get an overview of the mid-range and entry-level chipsets earlier, and ASRock unveiled the high-end X870E motherboards at Computex 2024. The neat aspect of the B-series 800 motherboard is that the B850 supports overclocking, while only the B840 is limited to memory overclocking. Both chipsets will support socket AM5 boards.
AMD 800 series chipset will likely get a staggered release
We already have the official specifications for the X870E and X870 chipsets on AMD’s site. We’ll only have to wait a bit longer for the B-series 800 motherboards to be added to the mix, according to the rumor. This seems to line up with the recent news that new 9000X3D processors will also have to wait until 2025, with a CES reveal.
If you’ve got your hands on the new Ryzen 9000 series processors and want the best performance, we’d recommend waiting for the 800 series motherboard and the TDP BIOS update for the 9700X and 9600X, which should ramp up their performance. However, if you’re on Windows 11, AMD recently made a post explaining how they’re working on an update that should also help boost the performance of the CPUs.
