AMD fans are currently looking forward to the launch of 9000-X3D processors, but it seems like AMD is planning to introduce something else first. According to a recent rumour, the company will soon launch the Ryzen 5 7600X3D processor, which will be the first budget X3D model for the AM5 socket. We already have the Ryzen 7600X, but the X3D variant will cater to those who mainly need a processor for gaming.
Even though the Ryzen 9000 series is based on the latest Zen 5 architecture and offers a 16% IPC uplift over the previous one, AMD still claimed that for gaming, the 7000X3D processors are still the ‘King of the hill.’. The company also mentioned that the next X3D models will be better than the existing ones, as they are continuously working on improving them.
However, while the 9000-X3D processors are currently rumoured to launch in January 2025, we might be getting the Ryzen 5 7600X3D early. While this won’t feature the latest Zen 5 architecture and the performance improvements that AMD has promised with the 9000-series, it will be a compelling option for those who are on a budget and want an affordable X3D CPU for the AM5 platform.
In the following article, we’ll be going over the Ryzen 5 7600X3D release date, specifications, and everything else we know about the processor so far.
Ryzen 5 7600X3D release date window
AMD has not announced an official release date for the processor at the moment. However, according to a credible AMD leaker, Hoang Anh Phu, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D might be released in early September.
The post on X only said “7600X3D early Sep” and nothing else. However, early September indicates that we could have the processor within the first two weeks of the next month.
We don’t have more information on the release date at the moment, as this is the first major leak about the processor. However, as soon as we hear something new, we’ll update this page.
Ryzen 5 7600X3D specs
So far, we don’t know what specifications the Ryzen 5 7600X3D will offer. Even the leaker only shared the possible release window and nothing about the specifications.
However, if we were to guess, then these are the specifications the 7600X3D could offer. Keep in mind that these specs are based on our speculations, and the final version may offer something different.
Specifications | Details |
Cores | 6 |
Threads | 12 |
Cache | 96 MB (L3 Cache including 3D-V Cache), 6 MB (L2) Cache |
Process Node | 5nm |
Architecture | Zen 4 |
Aside from that, we can not assume the TDP, base clock, and boost clock at the moment, as these are different for every processor. So, we will have to wait for either the official specifications or a leak to get an idea.
Ryzen 5 7600X3D price prediction
At the moment, we don’t have leaks or rumours regarding the price of this processor. But if we take the price of the Ryzen 7600X into consideration, which you can easily get for around $200 these days, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D should launch with a price tag of anywhere between $250 and $270. A $50 higher price tag seems pretty reasonable for the X3D variant, considering that it will offer better gaming performance.
Should I get the Ryzen 5 7600X3D if I already own the 7600X?
If you primarily use your PC for gaming, then you should definitely upgrade to the Ryzen 5 7600X3D when it launches. This is because X3D processors are designed with gaming in mind, so their performance in games is much better than their non-X3D counterparts. However, they aren’t the ideal choice for those who are looking for a mix of gaming and productivity performance. For that, stick to the regular 7600X.
Do I need to get a new motherboard for the Ryzen 5 7600X3D?
The Ryzen 5 7600X3D will be using the AM5 socket. So, as long as you own an AM5 motherboard, you should be fine. However, if you have an AM4 motherboard, then you will have to upgrade. This is because AM5 processors are not compatible with AM4 motherboards and vice versa.
