If you’re picking up a new CPU for gaming, then you don’t have to go for the top end and spend a fortune to get a decent-performing chip. Sometimes you might just want to get the basics done and get more from your GPU. Or right now, put more towards your RAM or storage with their inflated prices. But for your processor, the budget pick of the 9600X is a great way to get your foot in on the AM5.

Even now, the CPU is even cheaper to consider, as it is 36% off on Amazon. The popular CPU, with over 2,000 sales in the past month, is now available for $178 instead of the usual $279 price tag. That gives you a great saving of $101 on the CPU you can put towards the rest of your system.

Why we like this AMD CPU deal

As we saw in our 9600X review, the processor is an improvement over the previous generation and improves on the architecture of AM5. Even though it was minor, the later released efficiency settings do make it a greater consideration for performance versus power. So it’s a good chance to pick up and get some great value from it.

According to CamelCamelCamel, it’s one of the lower prices it has been at, although not the lowest. So you do still get a great value from it and a helpful way to put more towards the rest of your build.
