Just a few days ago, we covered a bunch of new Steam Deck replacement shells which eXtremeRate showed off in their Discord server. The announcement caused a decent amount of buzz and we’ve been waiting for pre-orders to go live ever since. Well, now they’re all up on the official website – and we noticed they’re actually cheaper than many of the LCD shells.

Steam Deck OLED Shells available for pre order

Head on over to the eXtremeRate website if you’re interested in one of these replacement shells. LCD shells have been available for a while now and many of them retail at $45.99. However, now the OLED shells are ready to pre-order and cost just $35.99, regardless of color. All products offer “free shipping worldwide” and the newer models will start shipping on October 22nd.

Installation won’t be easy

There are some differences between the Steam Deck OLED vs LCD which means these shells are purpose-fit for the advertised model – do not try to use one with the incorrect model. Also, be warned that installing a new shell isn’t an easy process by any means, so we recommend following a tutorial. eXtremeRate has an official one below; this is for the LCD model, so we’ll have to wait and see if they produce one for OLED in due time.
