AMD could spoil Nvidia’s RTX 5060 launch by releasing the RX 9060 XT alongside it, suggests leak

The Radeon RX 9070 XT has been a great success for AMD, and there’s still more to come in the Radeon RX 9000 series. Team Red has already teased RX 9060 series products, but hasn’t revealed anything about them just yet. However, according to a new leak, these cards could be launched very soon, putting AMD toe-to-toe with Nvidia.
The launch of the RTX 5060 Ti has already been plagued by accusations of a ‘paper launch' and Nvidia blocking reviewers from obtaining the 8GB variant for testing. It seems AMD is planning to capitalise on Team Green's disarray by launching a direct competitor to the RTX 5060.
RX 9060 XT could launch at the same time as the RTX 5060
Hardware leaker El Chapuzas posted on Twitter/X that the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT will arrive ‘alongside' the RTX 5060 in May. This lends further credence to reports from fellow leaker Harukaze5719, who also reported that the RX 9060 XT was scheduled for a May release. Another (often reliable) source, Hoang Anh Phu, suggested the card will be announced at Computex next month and launch two weeks later.
The availability of Nvidia's RTX 5060 Ti has not been good, and there is little reason to expect that the situation will be any different for the RTX 5060 non-Ti. These supply issues have pushed up prices, and consumers have had little opportunity to buy a graphics card at MSRP.
Specs previously leaked specifications for the RX 9060 XT show it has the same VRAM and memory bus as the RTX 5060 Ti, but a faster Boost Clock at 3.2GHz, compared with the 2.65GHz of the RTX 5060 Ti.
If AMD is intending to compete directly against Nvidia's entry-level card with one of its own, then it has a golden opportunity to grab a bigger slice of the market share. If AMD can deliver a card that is cheaper but has similar or better specifications and performance, then consumers will take notice.
