AMD’s next GPU could launch next month for cheaper than the RTX 5060, according to a new rumor

When AMD launched its Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards early last month, it ended the presentation by saying it would “broaden the family even further with the RX 9060 products” in the second quarter of this year. Well, it seems we’re drawing ever closer to the release of Team Red’s latest budget cards, and a new rumor suggests they’re not far away.
We’ve just seen Nvidia launch the RTX 5060 & RTX 5060 Ti. Again, the stock availability for these cards isn’t expected to be amazing, giving AMD the opportunity to win back some market share. The company has yet to announce anything official regarding the expected RX 9060 and/or RX 9060 XT.
RX 9060 XT rumored to be launched in May
According to a new rumor on the Chinese forum Chiphell, made aware to us by an often reliable source on X, harukaze5719, the RX 9060 XT could be scheduled for a May release. The thread discusses why there seems to be some radio silence regarding the new cards, especially off the back of Nvidia’s launch. Well, 5060 series reviews will go live later today (April 16th), so we’ll have to wait and see how AMD reacts.

There are also some pricing rumors within the thread, with a user claiming that the RX 9060 XT will also come with 8GB and 16GB models, priced at $249 and $299, respectively. For comparison, Nvidia’s cheapest 50 series card (so far) is the RTX 5060, which will offer 8GB of VRAM and is priced at $299. Nvidia also offers a $50 price gap between 8GB and 16GB models for the 5060 Ti, which is a welcome change from the $100 it was charging last generation.
Without any official confirmation from AMD just yet, be sure to take these current rumors with a pinch of salt. On the bright side, we at least know the 9060 series cards are coming in Q2, so there’s every possibility that a May launch is on the cards.
