Nvidia’s new RTX 50 series graphics cards aren’t quite here yet – but they’re about to be. The first two cards in the next-generation roster to be hitting shelves are the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, the top two offerings from Nvidia in 2025. These GPUs are designed for enthusiasts with a healthy budget, and Nvidia expects “significant demand” for both of the cards.

The 5090 and 5080 go on sale on January 30th and we’ve already started to see some of the biggest online retailers listing both Founders Edition and partner models. You can check out our dedicated ‘where to buy RTX 5090‘ and ‘where to buy RTX 5080‘ guides if you’re looking to grab one on launch.

RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 may quickly run out of stock

Recently posted on official forums, an Nvidia Staff member who simply goes by ‘Tim’ shared some details regarding Team Green’s plans for the big 50 series launch.

“We expect significant demand for the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 and believe stock-outs may happen. NVIDIA & our partners are shipping more stock to retail every day to help get GPUs into the hands of gamers.”

Tim, Nvidia Staff

Considering there have been plenty of reports of “extreme limited supply” at launch for both of these GPUs, it’s nice to see that Nvidia and its partners are committed to regularly shipping stock to try and meet the demand. We recently ran a poll that revealed that many people plan to upgrade to the 50 series this year. Limited stock could be an issue affecting a wide range of regions too; a large UK retailer says stock will likely sell out online “within 5 minutes“.

Whether you’re looking for a Founders Edition or custom model on release day, we recommend getting in as quickly as possible before “stock-outs” occur. For reference, here’s GPU partners for the RTX 50 series include:

  • ASUS
  • Colorful
  • Gainward
  • GALAX
  • GIGABYTE
  • INNO3D
  • KFA2
  • MSI
  • Palit
  • PNY
  • ZOTAC
