RDNA 5 is still some way away, but the next generation of AMD Radeon graphics cards has already received some specs leaks. There are a total of four new gaming GPUs expected, along with graphics solutions for upcoming consoles such as the PlayStation 6. AMD recently emphasized its partnership with Sony, including Project Amethyst, which centers around AI.

The leaked RDNA 5 specs reveal as many as 184 Compute Units for non-gaming GPUs, and 154 CU for a desktop gaming card. On top of that, we could be getting as much as 36GB GDDR7 memory, overtaking the RTX 5090, with the cheapest entry getting 12GB instead of 8GB. As per usual, these specs are subject to change, so take them with a grain of salt.

RDNA 5 specs leaks reveal a 36GB flagship

Courtesy of prolific hardware leaker Moore’s Law is Dead, we now have a closer look at what AMD is planning to do with its next-generation GPUs. It’s interesting to note that last year, we thought AMD would be skipping RDNA 5, instead moving on to its new UDNA architecture, and there’s still some uncertainty as to what the exact branding will be.

AMD decided against launching a true follow-up to the RX 7900 XTX in 2025; we got the 16GB RX 9070 XT instead. And while it’s a great card, it doesn’t go shoulder-to-shoulder with the RTX 5080, never mind the 5090. However, based on these leaked specs, Team Red seems ready to venture into the truly high-end once again with RDNA 5/UDNA.

The supposed ‘RX 10090 XT’ could rival Nvidia’s next flagship (assumedly the RTX 6090), while the ‘10070 XT’ is expected to target performance similar to the RTX 5080 or 4090. At the lower end, performance estimates for the mid-range 12GB card place it somewhere between the 5060 Ti and 5070. We recommend watching the full MLID video below if you want to learn more.
