RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 reportedly delayed to mid-March and April due to performance issues

Nvidia's latest RTX 50 series graphics cards are in high demand, but two of the most anticipated models, the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060, might take longer to arrive than expected. This is because according to a new report, Nvidia has delayed mass production of the GPUs, and they are now expected to be available in mid-March and April. This comes a few days after it was reported that chip supply constraints are causing shortages for the RTX 50 series.
RTX 5070 and 5060 production affected by performance issues and the Taiwan earthquake
According to a report from a Taiwanese media outlet, CTEE, the main reason for the delay is chip performance issues. Nvidia has most likely discovered that the RTX 5070 and 5060 need further ‘debugging’ before they can be mass-produced. In other words, the company needs extra time to fix technical problems and optimize the performance of both cards.
Because of this, CTEE claims that the mass production schedule has been delayed by around four weeks, and the GPUs are now expected to become available in the market by mid-March and mid-April, respectively. However, they can be further delayed if the issues are not sorted. Nvidia hasn’t revealed the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti yet, but rumors suggested that these two cards could arrive as early as March.
Another factor slowing down the production of these GPUs is the recent earthquake. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is one of the biggest manufacturers of Nvidia's graphics chips. The earthquake, unfortunately, affected TSMC's wafer production, causing delays in chip manufacturing. Even though TSMC is working hard to recover, the production issues have already affected the supply of Nvidia's new GPUs.
The RTX 5070 is currently set to launch on March 5, the same day reviews for AMD’s 9070 and 9070 XT will reportedly go live. However, if the report from CTEE is accurate, the launch might be purely on paper, or Nvidia could announce a new release date in the coming days. In any case, the RTX 5080 and 5090, which were launched on January 30, are also currently difficult to get. Both GPUs were marked as ‘sold out’ within a few minutes of launch, and there is currently no word on when the next batch will arrive.
The RTX 5070 Ti also launches today (you can check out its exact release time here), and we’re expecting it to go out of stock quickly.
