RTX 5070 might be delayed until March as rumors suggest Nvidia plans to go head-to-head with AMD

Despite initially setting Green Team fans up for a February launch, it seems like the RTX 5070 will now be delayed until early March. This comes after a wave of leaks and rumors about the upcoming RTX 50 series GPUs, giving us insights into the remaining two cards in the lineup: the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 5070. And there’s both good news and bad news regarding these highly anticipated graphics cards.
First, the good news is that the RTX 5070 Ti is looking to arrive as soon as next week, with several retailers listing the GPU for a February 20th launch. This means the RTX 5070 Ti, which we saw being voted as the second most popular RTX 50 series GPU choice among gamers, should hit shelves without any unexpected delays. However, as for the RTX 5070, leakers suggest we won't be seeing the GPU this month.

RTX 5070 likely to arrive with AMD’s RX 9070 GPUs
We first got a hint of this possible delay when French retailer TopAchat listed an MSI RTX 5070 Ti but made no mention of the non-Ti variant anywhere on the site. Soon after, Moore's Law is Dead reported that the RTX 5070 “will indeed launch in early March alongside RDNA 4.” And just yesterday, another European retailer listed the RTX 5070 Ti, but there was still no sign of the RTX 5070. In just the past week, we've had three different sources all pointing to the same conclusion that the RTX 5070 is likely delayed until early March. In fact, over on X, occasional, but credible leaker, @Zed__Wang has also posted:
The exciting part is that early March is also when AMD's much-anticipated RX 9070 series GPUs are set to launch, as confirmed by AMD CEO Lisa Su. This means they’ll go head-to-head with Nvidia's RTX 5070 series. It seems Nvidia isn't just aiming to compete in performance but also in sales, which could explain this unexpected delay. So far, the AMD RX 9070 series is not only confirmed to offer “high-quality 4K gaming” but is also expected to come with aggressive pricing. This means Nvidia won't have the stage all to itself, and competition is making sure of that.
No stock issues are expected, but only for the RTX 5070
That said, the good news for those waiting on the RTX 5070 is that no major stock issues are expected (yet), at least according to third-party sources. However, the RTX 5070 Ti is said to face the same supply constraints as the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, with leakers warning of a “very limited” supply. On top of that, pricing details for the RTX 5070 Ti have surfaced, showing board partners charging up to $450 more than the officially listed MSRP. This is extra problematic considering the 5070 Ti will likely have no Founders Edition model.
Nvidia’s ongoing stock issues have already led some gamers to hold off on the RTX 50 series, waiting for things to improve. If this trend continues with the rest of the lineup, the green team might be handing the advantage to the red team. Initially, AMD was the first to announce a ‘delay’ for its RDNA 4 GPUs, leading many to believe Nvidia would take the lead with the RTX 5070 series launching first. But now, a head-on collision between both lineups seems inevitable.
