Nvidia’s RTX 50 series isn’t a million miles away and the upcoming launch of the next generation of graphics cards is one of the next big hardware launches to look forward to. Nvidia recently announced exactly when its CES 2025 Keynote is, and it could be when the series kicks off with its flagship models.

We’ve already heard plenty on the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 specs as a part of previous leaks, so what about the next step down, the 5070 Ti? Well, a well-known leaker has shared a couple of details so far to think about. While we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt for now, the rumor does seem to suggest that the Ti model isn’t offering any mind-blowing upgrades.

5070 Ti may have a similar CUDA Core count to the 4070 Ti Super

According to a report by VideoCardz, crediting kopite7kimi as its source (the same person that provided earlier 5090 & 5080 leaks), the RTX 5070 Ti will feature 8,960 CUDA cores, equating to 70 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs). Additionally, the 5070 Ti is listed with 300W power, though it is unclear if this is TDP or TGP, the latter of which may be slightly higher.

Looking at these specs, it seems like the 5070 Ti isn’t going to be a massive improvement over last gen. It is worth remembering that the 4070 Ti did get an extra 4GB VRAM when it went Super (12GB to 16GB), plus a higher 256-bit bus width. 16GB is the least we should hope for with the 5070 Ti, but we’ll have to wait and see how this specific spec turns out when Nvidia officially announces it – or another leak surfaces. So far, Nvidia is only expected to announce the 5090 & 5080 at CES.

Considering the RTX 4070 Ti was originally planned to be a 12GB 4080, it seems like Nvidia is getting pretty comfortable at the top end and minor generational upgrades are enough to maintain the status quo. We already know that AMD isn’t planning on a high-end card this upcoming generation, and it’s unlikely that Intel has anything to contest Team Green either.

On the plus side, it looks like the RTX 50 series may get some sweeping upgrades including DisplayPort 2.1a, PCIe 5.0, and GDDR7 RAM.
