Marvel Rivals is extremely popular, but stuttering issues have plagued it from day one for some users. There’s a lot of basic stuff you can do to minimize Marvel Rivals FPS drops, but even if you run through this checklist it’s not guaranteed you won’t still experience problems. There have been a few mods out there that have aimed to solve this problem to varying degrees of success, but the ‘FPS Performance Enhancer – Optimization Boost‘ mod by creator jackknife2025 claims to be the best of the bunch, and it seems like the performance data backs this up.

It’s a stretch to even call this a mod really, it’s really just a configuration files tweak that you drop into the Marvel Rivals game folder, but that’s to its advantage as it doesn’t affect the game files beyond this. It works by setting a lot of the graphical effects you can’t alter from the standard game menu to the lowest settings. From this point, you can increase some of these settings up again slightly if you don’t like the look of the game once it’s enabled. More on this below. The most time-consuming bit of this process will be setting up a Nexusmods account if you don’t already have one.

How to install this Marvel Rivals FPS boost mod

  • Setup a Nexusmod account.
  • Go to the Files tab on the mod’s page and manually download the MarvelRivalsFPSBoost file at the top (alternatively you can use ‘Mod Manager Download’ but this is a bit unnecessary for such a simple mod).
  • Go to to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Marvel\Saved\Config\Windows (or use the shortcut Win+R – then > %LOCALAPPDATA%\Marvel\Saved\Config\Windows > Enter).
  • Open the downloaded folder in a separate window and move the Scalability.ini file into the folder you navigated to in the previous step. You should now see two files in the folder: GameUserSettings.ini and Scalability.ini.
  • Open up GameUserSettings.ini and ensure that the graphics settings are set to the minimum values as follows:
    • sg.ViewDistanceQuality=0
    • sg.ShadowQuality=0
    • sg.PostProcessQuality=0
    • sg.TextureQuality=0
    • sg.EffectsQuality=0
    • sg.FoliageQuality=0
    • sg.ShadingQuality=0
    • sg.ReflectionQuality=0
    • sg.GlobalIlluminationQuality=0
    • sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0In the game it looks like this.
  • Launch the game.

Can you get banned by using this mod?

Given that this modification is just a configuration tweak within the game settings, it seems unlikely that you would get banned from any Marvel Rivals servers for using it, however, we can’t say for sure definitively – so take care and use it at your own risk!

Performance comparison of the best config tweaks

Using this mod, YouTuber Game Guides has tested out various different scalability settings (rather than just zeros across the board) and benchmarked their performance. We suggest watching his video and seeing what performance he managed to get for each before giving it a whirl.

The mod’s creator, jackknife2025, claims that this is “likely the only FPS Boost mod that truly works, without a bunch of random, useless commands.” And based on the reaction in the mod’s comments, it seems like a winner. According to performance graphs, the mod offers a 16.1% performance boost and is slightly better than comparable mods, while offering a higher level of visual fidelity.
