Warframe studio reveals Intel instability is the reason for its game crashes
Table of Contents
More and more game studios are coming out to reveal the reasons for their game crashes and problems. To no surprise, it seems to be the Intel stability issues that have blown up recently. It was also revealed that the game studio Alderon Games also recommended avoiding the Intel processors. As now, Warframe Staff investigation has shown that the top Intel 13th and 14th Gen CPUs have been causing Nvidia drivers to crash (thanks to WCCFTech).
This just goes to show that what many game server hosts used as the best CPUs for high single-core performance have got more underlying issues. As Level1Techs investigated it has now become more expensive to run these Intel servers as users steer away from the games with issues, and server hosts start to charge more to run them with all the support and service they have to do to them. This also has led many to look to AMD as an alternative furthering Intel’s woes as it starts to lose out on this market share as well.

Warframes crashes investigation
The investigation shows that the Intel processors weren’t causing game issues but instead causing Nvidia graphics card driver issues with the nvgpucomp64.dll component. In the chart above we see the top 13th and 14th Gen causing crashes most with 75% from the flagship processors. The investigation into these came from a staff member who experienced these crashes at home, but curiously none in the office.

While investigating crashes in Warframe we came across a particular series that were not crashing in our code (they were crashing in nvgpucomp64.dll, a component of Nvidia drivers). After aggregating hundreds of reports from helpful players we discovered a pattern: almost all were coming from systems with 13th and 14th generation Intel processors.
[DE] Glen, Warframe Staff
The issues came in just launching the game or flying to the next mission at home. Whilst intensive stress tests and benchmarks caused no issues. Even with the latest Windows updates, Nvidia graphics driver updates, and more drivers, there seemed to be no improvements. Finding out the Intel CPU was causing issues and only finding some improvements in updating BIOS but not fully resolving the issue.
Warframe Staff also commented how those on AMD CPUs are lucky enough to not have any issues. Along with the staff working on providing fixes for crashes unrelated to this issue coming soon as well.
