Unfortunately, Wallpaper Engine does not have a specific feature to turn off live wallpapers. However, we have written a few workarounds for you to be able to do this. So, let’s dive in and find out how we can get rid of these wallpapers, once and for all.

1

Temporary remove wallpaper

If you are looking to temporarily disable your wallpaper, this is the method for you. To start, launch Wallpaper Engine on your PC.

Step

1

Open settings

In the Wallpaper Engine window, head to settings and click on the “General” tab.

Here, you will find a green button labeled “Remove High priority” under “Start with Windows”. Go ahead and click this and then “yes” in the pop-up window. This will stop Wallpaper Engine from booting up first when you start your computer.

You will now notice that the button next to “Start with Windows” has changed. Next, untick the box next to “Set high priority”.

Once this is done, click the “OK” button at the bottom of the settings window and “OK” again at the bottom of the Wallpaper Engine window to close the application.

Step

2

Quit Wallpaper Engine

Next up, we will need to quit out of Wallpaper Engine.

On the right-side of the taskbar on your computer, find the Wallpaper Engine icon and right-click on it. From the options that appear, simply click “Quit”.

You will now notice that your live wallpaper has now disappeared. You have the opportunity to select any wallpaper you would like. To do so, simply change your desktop background in the settings section of your Windows PC – just like normal.

Step

3

Enable a wallpaper from Wallpaper Engine

It is very easy to bring your live wallpaper back. Start by opening up Wallpaper Engine again. Head to settings, just like before, and click on the “General” tab.

Now, all you need to do, is tick the box next to “Set high priority”. Then in the pop-up click “yes”.

To exit out of Wallpaper Engine, simply “OK” in the settings tab, then “OK” in the Wallpaper Engine. You should now see you old live wallpaper appear as your PC background – easy right?

2
