Unfortunately, Wallpaper Engine does not have a specific feature to turn off live wallpapers. However, we have written a few workarounds for you to be able to do this. So, let’s dive in and find out how we can get rid of these wallpapers, once and for all.
Temporary remove wallpaper
If you are looking to temporarily disable your wallpaper, this is the method for you. To start, launch Wallpaper Engine on your PC.
In the Wallpaper Engine window, head to settings and click on the “General” tab.
Here, you will find a green button labeled “Remove High priority” under “Start with Windows”. Go ahead and click this and then “yes” in the pop-up window. This will stop Wallpaper Engine from booting up first when you start your computer.
You will now notice that the button next to “Start with Windows” has changed. Next, untick the box next to “Set high priority”.
Once this is done, click the “OK” button at the bottom of the settings window and “OK” again at the bottom of the Wallpaper Engine window to close the application.
Quit Wallpaper Engine
Next up, we will need to quit out of Wallpaper Engine.
On the right-side of the taskbar on your computer, find the Wallpaper Engine icon and right-click on it. From the options that appear, simply click “Quit”.
You will now notice that your live wallpaper has now disappeared. You have the opportunity to select any wallpaper you would like. To do so, simply change your desktop background in the settings section of your Windows PC – just like normal.
Enable a wallpaper from Wallpaper Engine
It is very easy to bring your live wallpaper back. Start by opening up Wallpaper Engine again. Head to settings, just like before, and click on the “General” tab.
Now, all you need to do, is tick the box next to “Set high priority”. Then in the pop-up click “yes”.
To exit out of Wallpaper Engine, simply “OK” in the settings tab, then “OK” in the Wallpaper Engine. You should now see you old live wallpaper appear as your PC background – easy right?
Permanently remove wallpapers
For those looking to completely remove all live wallpapers from your PC, can do so in a few easy steps. The easiest way to do so, is to uninstall Wallpaper Engine on your computer.
Delete Wallpaper Engine using Control Panel
On your PC, open up the start menu and find the Control Panel by either searching for it or by clicking on the icon in your start menu.
With the new window open, click on “Uninstall Program” under “Programs”. A list of your current downloaded softwares will now appear. Next, find Wallpaper Engine in this list and right-click on it. Now, select “Uninstall” to remove it from your PC.
Delete Wallpaper Engine on Steam
Alternatively, launch Steam on your PC and find Wallpaper Engine in your library list on the right-side of the Steam window. Once you have found the application, right-click on it and head to “Manage”. Then select “Uninstall” from the options.
A pop-up will appear asking you if you would like to uninstall Wallpaper Engine. If you are happy to do so, simply click “Uninstall”. You will now see Steam uninstall this software from your PC. Once this is complete, you will now notice that your live background has disappeared.
How do I turn off wallpapers from Wallpaper Engine on my phone?
Turning off a live wallpaper on an Android device is a piece of cake. If you no longer want to use a Wallpaper Engine wallpaper, you can easily remove it by setting a new wallpaper through your Android settings.
By doing so, you will remove the live wallpaper and replace it with another image from your phone.
Alternatively, for those looking to completely remove Wallpaper Engine from their Android device, can do so by uninstalling the app. To uninstall an app, head to your phone settings and find Wallpaper Engine under Apps.
