The 13th and 14th generations of Intel are clearly going through some issues, as Intel even offered an extended warranty for these CPUs. That said, it’s a whole other story for the Core Ultra lineup as its high-end 285K outperformed the 14900KF, which is promising after a series of unfortunate events from Team Blue. These new 15th-gen processors could provide some redemption for Intel.
However, the 285K isn’t the only one wreaking havoc; the Core Ultra 5 228V was also shown to outperform the previous generation’s flagship Core Ultra 9 185H. So, if you’re hyped about this new processing beast and are wondering about Core Ultra 9 285K’s release date, price, and specifications, we’ve got you covered.
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K release date rumor
Before we get to the release date of the Core Ultra 9 285K or the entire Arrow Lake lineup, we have the confirmation for the release of the Lunar Lake CPUs. Those processors will go live on 3rd September 2024; after that, the Intel 15th-generation processors, including the 285K, will be released.
That said, many publications speculate that the LGA 1851 processors will be released on October 10th, i.e. the Arrow Lake release date, which would mean that we only have to wait a little longer. In any case, we should get a better picture after the Lunar Lake mobile processors are released.
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K price speculation
While there isn’t any official word from Intel or any leaks that would give us an idea about how much this processor will cost, we can make an informative guess based on previous launches and pricing. The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H was released with a $640 price tag, and the 285K is considerably more powerful than that. So, we think the Core Ultra 9 285K could have an MSRP of $699.
Intel Core Ultra 9 285K specs leak
Recently, the entire Arrow Lake lineup’s specifications were leaked in a post on X. That said, this is a leak, so we recommend taking this information with a level of caution until Intel officially confirms the 285K and wider Arrow Lake specifications.
Processor | Intel Core Ultra 9 285K |
Cores | 8P + 16E (24) |
Base clock (GHz) | 3.7 / 3.2 |
Boost clock (GHz) | 5.4 / 4.6 |
TDP | 125W |
Integrated GPU | Yes |
Xe count | 64 |
So, if these specifications are true, the 285K should have amazing performance, especially since the 15th-generation CPUs are said to be using 2nm CPU processes.
Is the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K the next flagship CPU?
From what we can tell so far, yes, the 285K will likely be Intel’s next flagship processor, occupying the top spot in the 15th generation line-up. According to current leaks, below it will sit the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 and Intel Core Ultra 9 285T. The 285K boasts a high boost clock speed of 5.4GHz and 24 cores in total. Furthermore, the 125W TDP makes it one of the most power-hungry chips.
