The latest release in the long-running Call of Duty franchise is finally here. With a release spanning many platforms, there is a bit more thought to put behind a gaming PC than a console. In that case, you want to get the best experience with the right hardware, so getting the best GPU for Black Ops 6 is key to getting the best performance so you can get those kills without hindrance.
Hopefully, you should get a high framerate to match a top refresh rate monitor. That way you can experience the new COD installment in all its glory. With the game taking part in the Gulf War, its campaign focuses on ex-CIA veterans running from the military. But most known for its multiplayer, it has 16 new maps at launch along with the return of the zombies mode. So if that’s got you excited, here’s what hardware you need.
RTX 4070 Super is our top pick
- GPU: AD104
- CUDA cores: 7,168
- VRAM: 12GB GDDR6X
- Bandwidth: 504 GB/s
- Memory bus width: 192-bit
- Boost clock speed: 2595 MHz
For Black Ops 6, we recommend going for the RTX 4070 Super. Sitting in the middle of the pack for Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace generation, it brings a sort of best value choice from the range, especially as the success of the initial 70 model that was released. It offers a significant advantage with the features and proficiencies of the generation pushing the capabilities high without going too high.
As we find in our 4070 Super Review it’s a vastly capable card that provides a good enough performance to satisfy the initial price set for the tier. As with the upgraded AD104 chip, it brings over 7,000 CUDA cores clocked at over 2.5GHz with a 220W TDP. Along with 12GB of GDDR6X, it has the whole package to create a great performance across the board but primarily targets a 1440p resolution.
Along with the raw horsepower of the card, you also get access to DLSS 3 and frame generation, which is another level of performance to unlock. Seeing as it has had support for the technology previously, Black Ops 6 is also likely going to feature it, even if it’s not the latest version of it. That can push its capabilities even further so you may run even higher resolutions and/or graphics settings.
It sits high up in the requirements of what’s needed to run Black Ops 6 so it certainly shouldn’t hold you back. Along with the ability to run ray tracing rendering, it has plenty enough power to get you everything you might need out of your PC without having to spend too much.

What GPU do you need for Black Ops 6?
Looking at the Black Ops 6 system requirements we can see what it takes to get it going, and what is recommended for high-end performance. There is quite a big gap between the two levels, giving it quite an extensive level of support but with a variety of tiers in framerates. You can see the kind of GPU expectations as we list what’s needed below.
- Minimum: Nvidia GTX 960 / GTX 1650 / AMD RX 470
- Recommended: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti / RTX 3060 / AMD RX 6600 XT/ Intel Arc A770
As you can see, there is mention of older cards. But it doesn’t say what kind of performance these will achieve, and if the minimum might rely on using upscaling technology to get a good framerate even on the lowest settings. In contrast, the recommended requires a bit more power and recency, with top-tier old Nvidia or something within two generations at the bottom tier. It’s good to see that Intel Arc A770 is even included in the talks as an option.
Alternative graphics cards
Of course, the 4070 Super is not the only choice of a GPU you can go for, with a range of options in between and above, there’s a whole market to choose from. These might give you a better suiting to your budget or performance expectations that may also better suit the best of your needs.
Starting off with the AMD alternative and the RX 7800 XT, sitting above the recommended tier, it offers a strong value option for gaming. It took time for AMD to release this particular card but it’s a much stronger proposition for the price compared to the RDNA 3 options. Although the ray tracing and features might be a bit behind Nvidia’s offerings, it still is a worthy option (and BO6 doesn’t support ray tracing anyway).
On the other hand, if you’re after something more powerful, then the RTX 4080 Super might be more suited to your needs. A couple of tiers above the 4070 Super, it has plenty more CUDA cores behind it, the performance is now targeting 4K monitors and a high framerate.
Alternatively, for a more budget-friendly GPU, one to get you going for cheap, you can opt for the RTX 4060. An option that is after a simple 1080p performance, along with no need to splash out a high amount of money for the job. Although the exact model we reviewed is a little expensive, you can shop around for a cheaper SKU instead.
