The MSI Titan brings some of the best hardware out there packed into a small and compact build. As it has a top-spec Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU and Nvidia RTX 4090 laptop GPU. Of course, they’re not on par with their desktop counterparts, but it’s the best you’re going to get out of what’s available. Plus as we saw in our review, the cooling was more than adequate, keeping temps down, although the TDP and power behind it are still limited but definitely gives you a great performance.

Additionally, there is plenty of support in the rest of the system with lots of speed and capacity. It features 128GB of DDR5 that is replaceable, but unlikely you’ll need to change it out any time soon. As well as featuring 3 slots for NVMe SSDs ours came full with 2TB each for 6TB in total. That all comes in to work hand in hand with the rest of the system to get the best performance out there.

It also comes with an incredible screen already on board with the mini LED display with a 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That provides a strong and immersive experience when playing anything on the screen and measuring in at 18 inches, it does have a lot of real estate to provide that all. Which is a great way to enjoy Black Myth’s cinematic experience when the settings are turned up.

There are also other features onboard, as with a Cherry keyboard it comes with a great typing experience even without a standalone mechanical keyboard. Although personally, the glass touchpad is not ideal, and using a mouse is likely the better option. Which is most likely when gaming on a laptop anyway. Especially as this one measures in at 404 x 308 x 32 mm and isn’t going to be moving much.

System requirements

The game does require a bit of high-end hardware to run so it’s best to find out what it takes to get it going. With the Black Myth benchmark tool, we know it takes some hardware and tinkering to get going. As we’ve seen when finding the best GPU for the game as well, so it’s good to have a mess around. So if you’re looking for a laptop that suits it here are the desktop versions of the requirements. But if this recommendation doesn’t suit you, be sure to up each component a couple of tiers for the mobile version, or look for our alternatives below.

Alternative choices

If the MSI Titan is a bit much there are always other options to go for. As there are lower minimum requirements you can achieve without breaking the bank or lowering the resolution and graphics might not be a big deal. In that case, we have a few options spanning price and performance for something different.

Starting off with two MSI options we have had hands-on with as well. The Raider GE78 is a great option for gaming overall and doesn’t fall far behind the Titan. But dropping the screen option and some components does lower the price without sacrificing too much. Whilst the Stealth 18 AI does go for camouflaging its power in a more sleek design, which does hinder its performance but its not too awful overall.

Then there is the Razer Blade 16, a well-known laptop at this point for gaming. It certainly has the power behind it for slightly less performance but might just be the thing you’re after as it’s not to everyone’s tastes. The Acer Nitro 17 at the end comes in really cheap and still strong, allowing you to get the game at the minimum and enjoy it for less.
