Micro Center occasionally introduces new bundles that help PC builders save big on various components. Recently, they added a new 4-in-1 AMD bundle on their site, which not only includes top-tier components for assembling a high-performance rig, but also comes at a price that’s hard to ignore.

It is important to note that this bundle is limited to in-store pickup only. So, if you place an order online, you’ll have to go and pick it up from your nearest Micro Center branch, as the company will not ship it to your address. If you are lucky enough to live at least relatively local to one of its stores, you’re in luck.

What does the Micro Center 4-in-1 AMD bundle offer?

The latest Micro Center 4-in-1 AMD bundle boasts high-performance components, including a CPU, GPU, motherboard, and RAM. For the most part, we see them running 3-in-1 bundles that come with a CPU, motherboard, and RAM – but this time there’s a high-end GPU included too, which feels like a rare occurrence.

In fact, it’s the only 4-in-1 AMD bundle running at the time of writing. In case you want to explore more bundles from Micro Center, then you can check out their Ryzen 9000 series and X3D bundle. Anyway, here’s everything that’s included in the deal:

CPU: Ryzen 9 7950X3D

To begin with, the bundle offers the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, which is the top CPU in the 7000 series X3D lineup and one of the most powerful processors for gaming. X3D processors have more L3 cache, thanks to which they deliver solid performance in gaming. However, they’re not the ideal choice for productivity tasks.

The 7950X3D offers 16 cores and 32 threads. The CPU utilizes hyperthreading technology, which assigns two threads to each core to improve multitasking performance. Other than that, it operates at a base speed of 4.2 GHz, which can go up to 5.7 GHz during intensive tasks like gaming and video editing. Even though it is a high-performance processor, it has a TDP of only 120W. This means that it won’t generate too much heat compared to other high-end CPUs in the market, but we’d still recommend pairing it with one of the best CPU coolers for Ryzen 9 7950X3D to keep the temps low and improve the life span of the processor.

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT

To make sure you get the best performance in gaming, Micro Center has paired the 7950X3D with the RX 7900 XT GPU. This is one of the best GPUs for gaming that delivers solid performance at 4K. It comes packed with 20 GB of GDDR6 RAM, which is more than enough for the latest games at 4K. On top of that, it has 5,376 Stream Processors, a bandwidth of 800 GB/s, and a base clock speed of 1,387 MHz. This can go up to 2,205 MHz in gaming.

In our RX 7900 XT review, we tested the GPU in several demanding games. In Cyberpunk 2077, it delivered 62 FPS at 4K with everything set to Ultra, which increased to 119 after we switched the resolution to 1440p. Then, in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, we were constantly getting around 90 FPS at 4K and 145 FPS at 1440p. In non-demanding games like CS:GO and Rainbow Six Siege, the GPU was able to hit 313 and 153 FPS at 4K, respectively.

Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi

For the motherboard, Micro Center has included the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi, which is a pretty solid motherboard and offers specs similar to some of the best motherboards for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. It offers a very clean all-black design but does not feature anything fancy like RGB. However, this shouldn’t be a problem for those who like to keep the look of their rig simple and minimalistic.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk is an ATX board, so it won’t be able to fit inside smaller cases. Other than that, it offers the AM5 socket, meaning it’s compatible with Ryzen 7000, 8000, and the latest 9000 series processors.

On the board, you’ll find four slots for DDR5 7800+ (OC) RAM which can support a maximum capacity of 256 GB. There are also three PCIe x16 slots and one PCIe x1 slot for connectivity. For storage, the board offers four M.2 slots, one PCIe 5.0 and three PCIe 4.0, and four SATA 6GB ports for standard HDDs. There are also plenty of USB ports, including Type-A and Type-C ports, which can help you connect peripherals, external storage devices, and more.

Its VRM comes in the form of a 14+2+1 Duet Rail power system, which should help prevent performance and power-related issues. To make sure the motherboard stays cool during extended sessions, there’s an extended heatsink, an M.2 Shield Frozr, a heavy-plated VRM heatsink, and a 7W/mK Thermal Pad paired with a Choke Pad.

RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5 6000 Kit

Finally, for the RAM, we have the G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB kit. The kit includes two 16 GB sticks, each with a speed of up to 6000 MHz. With this much memory, you won’t face any performance issues during gaming or productivity. You can also upgrade the RAM later, as the motherboard can support four sticks with a maximum capacity of 256 GB.

A great bundle with a reasonable price tag versus prebuilt

If you buy each component in the bundle individually, you’ll have to spend around $1,639. However, if you decide to opt for the Micro Center bundle, you can save $239.97 by paying only $1,399.99. The money you save can be used to buy the remaining components you’ll need to complete the build, such as a case, CPU cooler, and PSU. We recommend getting one of the best Airflow PC cases and the best AIO coolers, as your PC will be packed with high-performance components, so you’ll need something to keep the temps low. Also, make sure you’re using one of the best thermal pastes with the processor.

When comparing the cost of the Micro Center bundle with a prebuilt PC like the YEYIAN Phoenix VR, which is priced at $3000 and features the 4080 Super paired with the 7950X3D, it becomes clear that a prebuilt option is significantly more expensive. Adding the remaining components to the bundle, such as a decent case, an 850W PSU, a 2TB SSD, and a solid CPU cooler, would increase your expenses by about $500, bringing the total cost to approximately $1,900.
