Nvidia’s most recent GPU architecture is named Blackwell, the successor to Ada Lovelace which we saw in the RTX 40 series. While it is in full production, we’ve yet to see any GeForce cards utilizing it, but that could soon change. Based on a new rumor from a reputable hardware leaker, we “will meet GeForce of Blackwell soon”.
Although it is currently speculated that the RTX 50 series won’t launch for a couple of months, sometime during CES 2025, this new rumor has brought forward the possibility of an earlier release. Or at the very least, a teaser from Nvidia. Looking back through prior GeForce releases, it is safe to assume that the RTX 5090 will be up first, with the RTX 5080 soon following.
New GeForce graphics cards on the horizon?
This rumor comes from kopite7kimi, a well-known name in the world of hardware leaks and rumors. This is the same person who leaked both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 specs just over a month ago and is generally seen as a reliable source of information. Still, Nvidia is yet to confirm anything, so we always have to take it with a grain of salt.
As we said, previous rumors were pointing toward an early 2025 launch. Since the new rumor doesn’t specify a launch or release window, there’s a chance this remains unchanged – but we could finally get official word from Nvidia soon. This would come as a surprise and will certainly build up some hype for the next generation of graphics cards.
We already know that AMD isn’t fighting for the top spot anymore, so the 5090 will likely take the spotlight. We like to think AMD just needs a better version of the RTX 5070 to compete, and that’s a card that is slated for February.
Right now, the next big hardware launch is the 9800X3D, which is coming on November 7th, but how soon after will RTX 50 be?
