The RX 9060 XT release date is just a few days away, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait for that or the embargo to see its performance. One Redditor has gotten lucky enough to receive their graphics card early (the 16GB model) and put it to the test with the current driver version to benchmark it to see how well it performs.

u/uesoto_hinata used driver beta 25.6.1 to get it working, as it’s likely AMD drivers are being held until the release of the card, so it’s impressive the user managed to find some early version. But they didn’t rely on just the factory settings for the card. Instead, they overclocked the card to push it and find its upper limit.

The Redditor found the memory clock to be essentially locked and not able to go beyond what comes standard, 2,538MHz, beyond which it begins crashing. At the same time, the graphics clock achieved a 200MHz increase with a decrease of 40 mV in voltage, with a 10% power limit increase. This resulted in a 3.46GHz clock at 199W (the standard being 3.13GHz and 160W).

RX 9060 XT beta performance versus RTX 5060 Ti & RTX 4060 Ti

Initially, u/uesato_hinata didn’t show off too many benchmarks, but continued to respond to comments with some more. They started with 3DMark’s Time Spy benchmark, getting a graphics score of 17,069. Paired with a Ryzen 5 5600 and DDR4 RAM on the old platform, the GPU was also tested on the Black Myth: Wukong benchmark tool. There are 1080p on high settings, it was averaging 64 fps, a reasonable rate for the high requirement game, but the cinematic dropped to around 35 fps in comparison.

We also tested the 5060 Ti 16GB and 4060 Ti 8GB to compare to the RX 9060 XT. There, you can see the AMD card just about on par with the previous-gen Nvidia GPU, with the benefit of more VRAM to utilize, also falling behind the 5060 Ti 16GB. However, our test bench uses the 9800X3D, so it’s not quite on par. Instead, looking at the Time Spy graphics score alone shows the AMD card scoring above the two Nvidia cards, showing it has the potential to lead when in the same system.

For the high settings, that would place the RX 9060 XT on par with the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti based on TechSpot’s testing. So, considering the AMD card will have a price of $349, compared to the 4060 Ti’s $499 or even the 5060 Ti’s $429, it’s shaping up to be a better value option.
