Nvidia officially announced the RTX 5050 earlier this week. This included a full list of official specs, as well as some performance benchmarks, which, as expected, heavily feature DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation comparisons. The company failed to reveal the exact release date, but Nvidia’s website across most regions details that the card is coming in the second half of July.

Reports from China, however, suggest that the region could be getting the new GPU in less than a week. July 1st was the date revealed by earlier leaks, before Nvidia decided to set the record straight. Despite this, consumers have noticed that the Chinese mainland version of the RTX 5050 page simply notes it is coming in July – not specifically in the second half.

RTX 5050 reviews could be available well ahead of launch

This report comes from the Chinese publication IT Home, which points out the difference in wording between mainland China and other regions. Interestingly, even the Taiwanese page notes a ‘late July’ release window. The same wording is visible on the regional page for Japan and other neighboring regions. As a result, rumors for July 1st continue to be the expected release date of the RTX 5050 in China.

With the potential of Chinese outlets being given the chance to review the RTX 5050 early, we could soon see how the card performs across a wide range of games. PC gamers will no doubt be keen to see how it sizes up in native benchmarks. This will have to rely on Nvidia releasing the drivers in due time, and there is no indication that reviewers are getting early samples right now. Launch day reviews for Nvidia’s previous GPU, the RTX 5060, were delayed due to a lack of early drivers, and the possibility of a fragmented launch for the RTX 5050 only complicates things further.

We’ll have to wait and see if anyone can get their hands on the RTX 5050 in early July. And whether they can benchmark it or produce any reviews, all while the rest of us wait for that mid-late July release window.

There doesn’t seem to be much excitement online for the entry-level RTX 5050. That’s to be expected – most enthusiastic PC gamers aim for something more powerful. Even still, considering the xx60 series of cards are consistently the most popular (seen time and time again in Steam hardware surveys), a viable option just below that retails for $249 would make for a fantastic budget GPU.
