AMD has finally announced the official pricing of its new 9000-series CPU lineup – and as earlier leaks suggested, the next-gen series will be cheaper than its predecessor (on launch).
In July, AMD announced that it was delaying the launch of its 9000-series CPUs to August, claiming the chips didn’t meet QA testing – leading to a full recall of all review samples. Despite that being the case, AMD fans met the news with surprising acceptance, stating that they’d rather have a 2-week setback than have faulty chips that didn’t perform.

Ever since the CPUs were announced at Computex 2024, specifications and release dates had been made official, but AMD had refrained from making references to the prices of these CPUs. Despite the leaks from a few retailers in some regions, AMD never confirmed any of those prices.
That, however, is no longer the case, as just ahead of the launch, AMD has officially announced the prices of the Ryzen 9000 series lineup via this X post.
AMD Ryzen 9000 CPU prices are as competitive as speculated
According to AMD's latest post on X (formerly Twitter), the prices of the upcoming Ryzen 9000 processors are as follows –
- Ryzen 9 9950X – $649 US
- Ryzen 9 9900X – $499 US
- Ryzen 7 9700X – $359 US
- Ryzen 5 9600X – $279 US
Compared to the previous generation, these processors are priced quite reasonably. In fact, the prices of the Zen 5 CPUs are $20 to $50 less than the previous generation. Here's a quick comparison –
Ryzen 9000 CPU | Launch Price | Ryzen 7000 CPU | Launch Price |
Ryzen 9 9950X | $649 | Ryzen 9 7950X | $699 |
Ryzen 9 9900X | $499 | Ryzen 9 7900X | $549 |
Ryzen 7 9700X | $359 | Ryzen 7 7700X | $399 |
Ryzen 5 9600X | $279 | Ryzen 5 7600X | $299 |
As per some earlier leaks and speculations, the CPUs were priced competitively, which turned out to be more or less true. For instance, a Chinese retailer revealed that the Ryzen 5 9600X was priced at $229 (converted from RMB), or Deals Target had an early listing with a $295.22 price tag, which is close to the official $279 price.
In case you missed it, AMD will be launching the next generation Zen 5 CPUs in two phases – the Ryzen 5 9600X and the Ryzen 7 9700X will be released on August 8th. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X will be rolled out on August 15th.
In addition to the four Ryzen 9000 CPUs, AMD had also planned to release two AM4 CPUs – Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT. Despite there being rumors of delay, the two processors were launch on July 31st as originally planned.
