I don't know much about computer specs but I was wondering if the following specs will work (which I think they won't so if not i was wondering about cheap upgrades). I am just listing them as they are listed on the front of my cpu.
2600+ (2.08 GHz) AMD Athlon XP processor
512 MB DDR SDRAM memory
120 GB Ultra DMA Hard Drive
CD-RW drive 48x12x48x max. speed
DVD-ROM drive 16x mac speed
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX graphics with 64 MB DDR shared video memory
This is on a HP Pavillion a 220n
Thanks for any help
The minimum game specs are:
* Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows XP 64-bit
* 512MB System RAM
* 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 128MB Direct3D compatible video card
* and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;
* 8x DVD-ROM drive
* 4.6 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX 9.0c (included)
* DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
* Keyboard, Mouse
About the only shortfall is your video card...
Or I should say on-board video.
The recomended specs are:
* 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 1 GB System RAM
* ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card
Double your RAM, faster processor and of course a much faster/newer video card.
Getting up to the minimum specs would require just a new video card.
Which you should be able to find for between $80 and $150...if there is an AGP slot to do the upgrade with. I can't remember if there is or not on that motherboard.

The AthlonXP 2600+ is roughly equivalent to a P4 2.6GHz for gaming, so the CPU is fine for now. Not to mention that Socket A is getting a bit old and there's no guarantee you can upgrade the CPU in an OEM. Leave that out.
Other than that, I agree with mjc. Double your RAM at the minimum, and let us know what type of expansion slots you have available. If you've got an AGP slot, great! If not (just PCI), you might want to think twice about buying Oblivion. Even the most advanced PCI vid cards are at the very very bottom of modern gaming performance, and there is no other game out right now as demanding as Oblivion (it can use dual-core CPU's for crying out loud! :eek: ).

And make them groan...at least a little.
