You have a S Video cable.

You need to have an S Video socket on your TV and Laptop.

Connect all three together.

Sometimes on a laptop you have to press a function key and another key (should have a small pic above the letter or number) that switches between your laptop screen and the TV (normally though used between monitor and laptop screen).

Some TV's will work straight on your AV channel, others need the settings changed for that channel via your remote control to except S-VHS etc.

If you do not have a S-Video connector on your laptop or TV and have Composite (normally yellow connector that will match the shape and size of your red and white (sound)), you can get S-Video to composite Video converters.

Hope this helps, post what connectors you have on yout TV and Laptop as there are slight other alternatives if you have a scart connection on your TV.

Thankyou for your reply. I have a cable with which i plug into the back of my laptop s-video and the other end into my tv also s-video.
I also have a cable in which i plug into my headphone socket on my laptop and that leaves me with a white and a red plug which i plug into the tv. I then set the input on the tv I get the sound but no picture. What is the little picture look like that you mentioned on my keyboard?I hope this helps.

It looks abit like a screen or projector screen normaly, it will be above a key the way there are signs above the numbers on a keyboard.

Normally drawn in the same colour as the letters FN on the function key.

Hold the function and press the button youre looking for, each time you press it it will cycle to a different mode.
e.g monitor only, monitor and laptop, laptop only.

However I dont know if this is for only when pushing out to a monitor.

I had a similar problem once and it was resolved by going into the settings of my AV channel via the remote control and configuring it for s video.

This will depend a lot on your make of TV though, if you cant find any such settings give details of your TV and someone might have the same and be able to help.

Keep us all posted

May not of made myself clear enough when I referred to the settings for your S Video, these are settings within your TV not your laptop.

hope it works

all the best
