Here are the best Prime Day GPU deals we could find, despite all the graphics card price hikes this year
Table of Contents
The first thing we have to admit is that GPU prices are not in the best state right now, after months of rising costs due to memory shortages fueled by AI data center demand. Nvidia and AMD (along with Intel) have faced inflated prices, with GeForce cards coming out the worst. On the bright side, Amazon’s latest Prime Day does have some offers on show – if you know where to look.
We’ve rounded the best graphics card deals we could find, and it quickly became obvious that AMD Radeon GPUs are receiving the best discounts this October. So, if you’re happy to switch to Team Red (or if you’re already an AMD user), there are a few Prime Day deals that might take your fancy. For Team Green, we found that Prime Day laptop deals had a better showing.

Which GPU should you choose this Prime Day? Our top 3
AMD Radeon GPUs enjoy the best deals we’ve seen over the two-day Amazon Prime event. In particular, the relatively recently launched (in the US) RX 9070 GRE has a few models on offer at discounted prices. We should note that graphics card stock levels have been temperamental – especially when there’s a good deal on show, so there’s not really any time to waste.

What to look for in a Prime Day GPU deal
Performance & VRAM targets
The first thing you’ll want to do is check the GPU’s actual performance for the games you play, and critically, what resolution you will be playing them at. GPU reviews are ideal for comparing performance at 4K, 1440p, and 1080p, and graphics cards are tiered accordingly to target those three resolutions.
Also be sure to pay attention to VRAM, with 12GB or more increasingly useful for modern 1440p and 4K gaming. A cheaper card isn’t necessarily a better deal if it delivers significantly less performance. Recently, the 12GB RTX 5070 became the most popular GPU on Steam, but we’ve also seen a trend towards 16GB models as users aim to move away from the 8GB standard.
Power requirements & dimensions
It’s incredibly important to understand whether a graphics card is compatible with the rest of your gaming rig. It’s often the most expensive purchase, and other components need to keep up. You should always check the card’s power requirements, physical dimensions, and recommended PSU, particularly if you’re upgrading an existing PC with established constraints. It’s no good buying the best GPU you can afford if your power supply is too weak, or if it won’t physically fit inside your PC case.
Gaming features
Consider features such as ray tracing, upscaling, frame generation. All three GPU makers (Nvidia, AMD, Intel) have their own DLSS, FSR, and XeSS suites, respectively, with Nvidia’s DLSS often leading the pack, especially with the recent release of DLSS 5 and, just before that, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction. Modern games are widely supported by these upscaling and frame generation suites, but it’s always worth taking into consideration which brand has the best support for the games you play.
Is Prime Day a good time to buy a graphics card?
Along with major sales events such as Black Friday, Amazon’s October 6-7 Prime Day sale (officially Prime Big Day Deals) is one of the best times to purchase some new tech. Of course, as we’ve mentioned before, GPU prices right now aren’t as great as they were this time last year, or indeed earlier this year, but it’s also important to consider any future price hikes. Recent reports suggest there’s a further price hike coming to AMD graphics cards in Q4 2025, so now might be one of the last times to upgrade to a Radeon GPU for a reasonable price.
