So far, 2026 has been a year to forget for new graphics card releases. Nvidia launched no new GPUs at CES in January, and Computex last week came and went without any brand-new desktop GPU reveals. Now, the latest expectations suggest Nvidia won’t even be able to launch its RTX 50 Super graphics cards in 2026, as they are pushed back to early 2027.

We did at least get a global launch for AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE at the start of June, though, as a cut-down version of the existing RX 9070, early sales were far from impressive. Team Red’s next-gen RDNA 5 graphics cards are also rumored to be delayed until the second half of 2027, or at worst, early 2028. Nvidia has instead been focused on its new RTX Spark Superchip.

RTX 50 Super graphics cards may have to wait until CES 2027

News of further RTX 50 Super series delays (which we started hearing as far back as last November) comes from Taiwanese publication BenchLife, which casts doubt on a recent rumor suggesting the cards are “back on track” despite ongoing memory shortages. It’s widely reported that these Super GPUs will be fitted with additional VRAM due to a pivot to 3GB GDDR7 modules.

There is still no known release date for the GeForce RTX 50 Super, although some still believe it will be released in 2026.

However, in our understanding, the GeForce RTX 50 Super series graphics cards with 3GB GDDR7 memory chips will be released as early as the beginning of 2027, which is CES 2027.

BenchLife places the expected release time as CES 2027, which is already scheduled from January 6 to January 9. Interestingly, leaker @Zed_Wang on X suggests there will be a 12GB version of the RTX 5060 coming, too. Earlier RTX 50 Super specs leaks only pointed towards new versions of the 5070, 5070 Ti, and 5080, just like we saw with the RTX 40 Super line-up.

Thanks to the expected switch from 2GB GDDR7 to 3GB GDDR7 modules, the four rumored models all enjoy a solid uplift in the memory department. For example, the RTX 5070 Super should jump from 12GB (6x2GB) to 18GB (6x3GB) with the new modules.

  • RTX 5060: 8GB -> 12GB
  • RTX 5070: 12GB -> 18GB
  • RTX 5070 Ti: 16GB -> 24GB
  • RTX 5080: 16GB – 24GB
