AMD fans are currently looking forward to the launch of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, which is expected to happen this week. The CPU will be the first X3D processor of the Ryzen 9000 series to hit the market, and everyone is excited to learn how it will perform compared to the previous-gen lineup.

And now, just days before its expected launch, the 9800X3D’s first retail listing has surfaced online, along with leaked specs from a document.

Ryzen 7 9800X3D gets listed for the first time

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has made its first appearance on Tech-America, where it’s listed for $484. It's not the only retailer listing the CPU, as BLT also has it priced at $524.62, which is $40 more than Tech-America.

Since AMD has not officially announced the processor's price, it’s hard to determine what the actual price will be at launch. However, these listings suggest it will likely be around the $500 mark.

Aside from the price, the specs of the 9800X3D have also been leaked via MaxSun’s CPU support documentation. According to the leak, the CPU will have a base clock speed of 4.7 GHz, a significant jump from the 7800X3D's 4.2 GHz base clock. This boost in clock speed promises better performance, especially in tasks that rely on single-core speed, such as gaming. It's also expected to feature 8 cores, 16 threads, 96 MB of L3 cache, and a 120W TDP. While it shares similar specs to the 7800X3D, the 9800X3D will use the new Zen 5 architecture.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D has been hard to find lately, with stock running out at several retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy. A few weeks ago, Newegg was the only retailer selling it, but for over $600. While it’s now back in stock at Amazon, it’s still priced at $478, which is way higher than what it was listed before. Although it remains a solid CPU, the high price and limited availability make it less appealing, especially with the 9800X3D around the corner at a potentially similar or lower price.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is built on a newer architecture, likely offering better efficiency and performance. This newer design will improve how the CPU handles tasks, which will most likely make it faster and more power-efficient than the 7800X3D in gaming. So, if you're building or upgrading your gaming PC, it could be better to wait for the 9800X3D if they are similarly priced.
