Enable the Internal Cache

All modern processors include on-board cache, which is usually called either the system's "primary cache" or "internal cache". This cache can be enabled or disabled using a BIOS setting that is present on almost every PC; read about it here. You should always make sure that the internal cache is enabled and functioning properly; leaving it disabled will lead to a substantial performance degradation.

Note: This setting is one of those that you should always be able to enable. If you cannot enable this option then you probably have a hardware or configuration problem, and you should have it addressed instead of merely disabling the feature.

Next: Enable the External Cache
