Troubleshooting Operating Systems and Applications

This section contains a few troubleshooting sections on problems related to the operating system or application software. This site focuses on hardware in order to keep its scope under control, so there isn't a great deal of information here; there are so many different software packages and potential problems with them that I could never hope to write anything comprehensive without going totally off the deep end. To some extent, problems with software need to be addressed through channels specific to the software. My intention is only to provide some support for operating system and application difficulties that are hardware-related or generic to the system.

A great resource for more detailed operating system troubleshooting is Microsoft's Knowledge Base (assumng you can find your way through the confusing maze of links and other nonsense on that site.)

Please choose the description best describing the problem you are having.
