Have a few problems like random, infrequent crashes (when on internet) and scandisk detects an error that it can not fix when not shut down properly so must run scandisk for windows- no problem found on this. Under Device Manager Intel 82371AB PCI to ISA bridge has yellow circle with ! in it. Could this be the route of my problems or just another to add to the list? Either way, does anyone know how to go about fixing it?

Intel unlike some other chipsets usually plays well with the default Windows drivers, but sometimes it doesn't....so have you installed any software/hardware lately? Does it give a reason for the error?

Well, random infrequent crashes on the net with Win95/98/98SE are NOT uncommon!! You might be having the problems as a result of your PCI to ISA bridge not having correct drivers, but I think it's a long shot [not having any or correct drivers is why you see the "yellow !", by the way]. The Scandisk finding an error it cant fix is USUALLY associated with a file having a long file name that is corrupt.......you have to find it an delete it to keep from having this problem in the future [maybe someone else has more experience with this].
Before you spend a lot of time messing with this problem......go to the Windows Update site and download all of the updates for Win98 SE (if you dont have SE, get it!). The updates will cure many of the problems associated with errant scripts, messed up Active X apps and other anomalies you run into on the net. Good luck!
