View Full Version : extended VGA cable

I'm trying to extend the controls to another room. Mouse, keyboard, and VGA monitor. I'm going about 60ft. All went well, but the monitor is doing funny things. Green boarder around the blue. Is there an external device? Some type of line amplifyer? And what is the limit of cable length for VGA cable? Thanks.

Not sure what maximum cable length is, but either you're way past it, or picking up interference from electronic or magnetic sources along the way. This would be electrical wiring, TV, radio, etc.
Maybe someone else will have some other clues, or some info about some type of amplification.
Soon as I come up with all the answers...they change the questions!!

I started to do a search, but there are a lot of devices and price ranges. I recommend using a serarch engine like Google (http://www.google.com) and enter a search like "monitor video extender". That should bring up some sources.
You might also check JDR (http://www.jdr.com). I have not seen their catalog for a while, but I think I have seen extender devices there.
They may not have the lowest prices, but they are a first-class company in all respects.
