Where to find the best SSD deals
SSDs are available through all the big online tech retailers and you can find some great deals on sites such as Newegg and Best Buy. Our personal first port of call tends to be Amazon. The online retail giant is just that, a giant, and Amazon’s size means that it can afford to offer great deals more often than competing retailers a lot of the time.
Manufacturers themselves also sometimes have sales on their own products so it’s worth keeping an eye on the Samsung, Western Digital, and Crucial websites.
Is April a good time for SSD deals?
This April has been a little hit-and-miss when it comes to deals. March 2024 saw some really great reductions and by comparison, April hasn’t quite seen so many. That being said, the deals that are there are often just as good as those of last month and in some cases even better.
Given the current uncertainty about price rises in the SSD market, The deals that we have featured on this page are really fantastic and we think represent great value for money.
When will the SSD price rise take effect?
You might have heard that there have been SSD shortages recently and that this is leading to price hikes, but what does that mean for you as a consumer, and should you be worried about paying over the odds for an SSD?
A lot of the impact of SSD shortages has been shouldered by the enterprise market because of an AI-related increase in demand. That being said, production reduction strategies of NAND Flash memory manufacturers coupled with the broad increase in demand have seen consumer-level SSD prices start to rise.
In simple terms, SSD prices are going up already, and unless the market drastically changes in the next 6 months that’s a trend we’re likely to see continue. That means getting your hands on a quality SSD sooner rather than later is probably the best idea.
